Description

A compact, short little dog with a foxy look and a big frill around the collar

wedge-shaped, with black nose; ears set wide apart

Turned straight over the back and carried flat; abundantly covered in long, spreading hairsw flaat; abundantly covered in long, spreading hairs

Body

Short, with well-rounded ribs

Coat

Double-coated; the undercoat is short and fluffy, the outer comprised of long straight hair, which is in abundance around the neck

Colour

Any colour is acceptable, but must be free from black or white shadings

Height 30.5cm (12in) maximum; weight 5 kg (11lb) maximum

Origin

A member of the spitz family, originating in the Arctic; developed in the Prussian region of Pomeranian and introduced into Britain at the end of the nineteenth century

Personality

Very apt to bark at strangers and therefore a good watchdog; they are lively yet obedient
