An attractive and elegant
dog, slender yet powerful looking.
Head
Lean, elongated with a
well-defined stop; the muzzle is half the length of the head with thickish
lips and a tight jaw; the nose should be near-black.
Eyes
Near hazel colour

Should hang in neat folds.
Tail
Medium length, slightly
curved and fringed in line with the back.
Body
Moderate length with a
short, level back.
Coat
Slightly wavy, silky and
moderately long with breeches and forelegs well feathered.

Preferred colouration
is black and white; lemon and white; liver and white, or tricolour(black,
white and red).

Origin
Obtained from the spanish
pointer and the French pointer, the English setter was developed via the French
setter in the nineteenth century.
Personality
Friendly and affectionate, the English setter is also a sensitive dog and therefore receptive to good training.
