Head

Small, flat with a medium-length muzzle and a black nose

Small, V-shaped; can be erect or semi-erect

Docked to a medium length and carried level with the back

Well-proportioned; with an upright carriage; straight limbs and round feet

Coat

Long, straight, silky hair with a parting running from the nose to the end of the tail

Colour

Steel blue with golden areas to the head, chest and limbs; abundant at the head, but not extending onto the neck and darker at the roots than in the middle

Height 22.8cm (9in); weight up to 3.2 kg (7lb)

Origin

Developed by miners in the English country of Yorkshire as ratter; today's standard first appeared at show in 1870
